PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
February, 2008

Dear Fellow NNJ ASTD Members,

I am honored to be leading this prestigious organization and proud to be working with an exceptional Board and committee volunteers.

We have many outstanding events planned for 2008!  These robust programs will feature knowledgeable and engaging presenters who will focus on topics including:  eLearning, Advancing the Training Profession through Coaching, Leadership Effectiveness, Team Building, Talent Management and more…

You won’t want to miss our upcoming events:

  • March Chapter Meeting: 3/11 – eCommunication:  creating content, blogging and profiling presented by Karen Nowosad, Founder and Director of The Gardner Associates and Jack Appleman, President of SG Communications.  This three part dinner meeting will engage learning professionals in practical tips and best practices for leveraging online tools to best support our learning leaders as practitioners and consultants.  Seating is limited…register now at www.nnjastd.org.
  • Professional Development Event:  3/14 – eLearning – How to Plan, Launch and Implement Successfully presented by Heather Maitre, Director of Technology Based Learning at KPMG, and Nicole Green, Associate Director, KPMG. This session will provide you with a walkthrough of KPMG’s best innovative, creative, and effective uses of learning.  During this session, you’ll see interactivities used for virtual training sessions and video segments.   To register, visit our website at www.nnjastd.org.
  • April Chapter Meeting:  4/8 – Competency Models as the Foundation of a Training Strategy presented by Diana Kramer, President of Kramer Consulting Solutions, Inc.  Diana will share her insights on how to use competency models to identify and develop people as the foundation of a Training Strategy.  This informative session will teach participants how to analyze applications (Training, Interviewing, Performance Management, Career Planning, etc.) to ensure successful implementation of competencies at all levels and develop a training strategy that incorporates competencies as a measure of success.
  •  Professional Development Event:  6/27  – Developing Effective Teams and Team Players presented by Glenn Parker, Author and Consultant who works with organizations to create and sustain high performing teams. The workshop will be highly interactive and action oriented.  Participants will walk away with specific tools and tips to facilitate a team building activity or a team training program including:  three dimensions of effective teamwork, four types of team players, your personal team player style, the strengths and weaknesses of various team player types, how to assess the effectiveness of your team and team building exercises you can put to use immediately.  To register, visit our website at www.nnjastd.org.
